Parents Request for Inspection of Education Materials
Parents have a right under federal law to inspect all instructional and supplementary materials used in connection with any applicable federally funded programs. Parents also may review all other instructional materials following procedures provided by the school or superintendent. The term "instructional materials" does not include academic tests or assessments. Parents also have the right to purchase a copy of any of the materials used in their student's classroom. Parents who wish to purchase the materials will use their own finances and it is not the responsibility of the school or district to purchase materials for the parent.
A Parent's Request for Inspection of Educational Materials may be submitted to the school principal regarding the use of instructional materials. Please allow up to 10 instructional days for the purpose of gathering the requested materials for inspection. You may email, deliver, mail, or fax the form to the appropriate school. Please call your school if you have questions or call the Ashe County Curriculum and Instruction Director at (336)246-7175.
