Blue Ridge Elementary School is dedicated to reading excellence. Our teachers provide every student with a balanced literacy instructional model. This comprehensive approach includes model, shared, guided and self-selected reading, phonics, and writing instruction. Student progress is monitored using a variety of assessments, making sure they meet their personal instructional goals in literacy. We work hard to make sure all students grow to be successful, proficient readers.
Every grade level is provided an additional 45 minutes of leveled literacy instruction every day. Teachers use data from Reading 3d, i-Ready,STAR, EOG, and other informal assessments to determine small groups. Students focus intensely on reading skills appropriate for them. Our goal is to challenge our students to meet his/her literacy goals each day!
