This scholarship is available to teachers in Ashe County Schools in honor of Gwyn B. Price and Barbara H. Deverick.  Mr. Price was known as the “father” of cooperative movement throughout our state.  As an Ashe County native, he has left his legacy on rural North Carolina.  Ms. Deverick was an employee of Blue Ridge Electric for 43 years and served as a strong community leader.  She served on the Caldwell Community College Board of Directors and served as chairperson of the Caldwell County Board of Education.

Scholarship funds may be used for professional development for license renewal, continuing education, curriculum enrichment, educational travel, or advanced degrees.  Recipients must continue to teach within Ashe County Schools during the following school year and provide information related to how the professional development provided educational benefits to students.

Recipients will be chosen based on selection criteria established by the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee.  Winners will be announced in May.  The Chamber of Commerce is an equal opportunity agency and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, or national origin.
