Ashe County Schools
The Ashe County Board of Education is an elected board consisting of five members. Members are elected to four-year terms. Ashe County citizens take great pride in the school system. Ashe County is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in rural northwest North Carolina. There are about 2,900 students in our school system, which consists of 6 schools and a pre-school program (1 pre-school, 3 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 high school, 1 early college). From Winston-Salem:
Travel north on Highway 421, turn right on 221 North, follow for approximately 15 miles, turn left at third traffic light, make a right at stop sign, turn right at traffic light onto Highway 88, follow for approximately 1/2 mile, turn right on Ivy Street then right on South Street. Ashe County Board of Education will be on the left.
From Boone:
Travel south on Highway 421, turn left on 221 North, follow for approximately 15 miles, turn left at third traffic light, make a right at stop sign, turn right at traffic light onto Highway 88, follow for approximately 1/2 mile, turn right on Ivy Street then right on South Street. Ashe County Board of Education will be on the left.
From Hwy 16:
Travel south on Highway 16 South, turn right onto Highway 221, follow 221/88 for approximately 1-1/2 miles, turn left on Ivy Street, then right on South Street. Ashe County Board of Education will be on the left.
